I sat there watching the trees this morning thinking that there was no way my duffed up ankle would take a 30mph sail and resigned myself to not sailing. Then in a moment of inspiration or madness, I remembered that Bewl Water is about a 10 minute drive away - surely it would be windy there. Checked the website and it was gusting 25-35mph, which was good enough for me. Flat water can\'t be too troublesome for a dodgy ankle. Headed off through a shower to arrive to two boards bobbing along to a F1 . There was quite a bit of cloud action so stuck with it and paid my £7, got chatting with another guy who had just rigged a 6.0m. Rigged 6.5m and was still very dubious about it being enough, but once I came out of the changing room the sky had cleared a little and I stepped on to find it was more than enough. I reckon I was planing well over 90% of the time. It was gusty, but it allowed a few fully planing runs out and in, which is about a mile each way.

So 2 hours of lovely flat water blasting and my ankle is still fooked., but Bewl was worth every penny - it was like rehab. Best enjoyed max once a year though I think.
